Chicken meat exports from Brazil climbed 4.5% year-on-year in May to 399,400 tons, while revenues slid 17.3% to USD 546.3 million.
Year-on-year through April saw a hike in exports to Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Bahrain, Oman, Sudan, Jordan and Tunisia.
Foreign sales were down 9.5% for revenue and 8% for shipped volume. Some Arab countries stepped up imports, including Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Libya.
Such was the amount from foreign sales of petroleum from January to April. Political instability caused a drastic drop in output.
Exports from Brazil to the region were up nearly 40% year-to-date through November, with sales to the biggest markets increasing.
Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Libya in Brazil visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber. He wants to encourage meetings between businessmen from both countries.
