The Arab Brazilian Chamber invited prominent religious and community figures for the breaking of the Ramadan fast Monday evening in São Paulo.
Throughout the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast during daytime, but evening feasts and donations will drive up food sales, with a major impact on the trade calendar in Arab countries.
The month saw USD 212 million worth of product shipped from Brazil to that region, up 60% year-on-year. The result is owed to the building of stockpiles for Ramadan.
The event’s opening this Wednesday (1) was attended by the ambassador of Brazil to the UAE, Fernando Igreja, and the head of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce’s Dubai office.
Hotels in the emirate welcomed over 2.41 million visitors from January to June. An annual record is expected for the second straight year.
This Monday, religious leaders and representatives of the Arab community and diplomacy gathered at the Chamber for the evening meal to break the Ramadan fast.
