Brazil’s industry association Abicalçados announced a string of actions designed to advertise Brazilian shoes around the world in digital form next year, including joining online trade shows and platforms.
Brazilian companies that have been to online events organized in other countries see lower costs as a positive aspect. However, securing actual sales deals is more challenging.
The Arab country grossed EUR 550 million from foreign sales of leather and shoes last year. Work is underway to see double that amount by 2030 by adding value and attracting foreign investors.
After sliding for four months on end, foreign sales of shoes from Brazil climbed in June over May. Year-over-year, however, exports are down almost 50%.
Q1 saw shipped volume drop 14.6% year-on-year to 2.5 million pairs of shoes shipped, with revenue sliding 11.1% to USD 14.7 million.
The organization’s secretary-general Tamer Mansour gave a lecture at the industry syndicate in Birigui, São Paulo. He discussed an economic forum due next year and a showroom in the Middle East.
Q1 saw 774,000 pairs of shoes shipped from Brazil to the Arab country, up 127% from a year ago.
The first two months of the year saw 690,700 pairs of shoes shipped, up 167% from a year ago. Revenues came out to USD 4.57 million, up 117%.
The month ended with 10.54 million pairs of shoes shipped, up 6,6% year-on-year. Foreign sales had been on a downward slope since May.
