Publishers interested in translating and releasing books by Brazilian authors abroad can apply for financial support from Brazil’s National Library Foundation until October 6.

Profits from the ‘Arab Emirates COP28 Run’ will go to the translation of the Brazilian Constitutional Charter into three languages of Indigenous peoples living in the Latin American country.
The Support Program for the Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors Abroad was started by the National Library of Brazil in 1991 to promote the literary heritage of Brazil. This year’s edition will distribute USD 200,000 to interested publishers.

The Egyptian professor passed away last Sunday in Cairo at age 97. He moved to Brazil in 1962 and didn’t move away until 2015. He served a decades-long stint in the Arab Chamber board. His crowning achievement was the Koran’s translation into Portuguese.
