São Paulo – Exports by Inti are still sporadic, but the producer of decoration mosaics, headquartered in Tubarão, in the state of Santa Catarina, aims to change this scenery and become prominent in the Arab world. The company has already closed two deals with a retailer in Bahrain, and this contact should generate great fruit.
“He (the distributor) aims to open a studio with our products and take them to other countries in the region,” explains Tarcila Pilon, the export manager at Inti. The client, whose name she decided not to reveal, has a building product showroom that includes Brazilian brands.
She said that the client’s orders totalled 1769 items, in both lines produced by the company. Inti tiles, for use on floors and walls, are made manually, using material like marble, wood, glass, Brazilian stones, coconut husk and ox horn, among others.
Contact with the client from Bahrain was in March this year, during Expo Revestir – the Brazilian Coverings Exhibition, which took place in São Paulo. Before that, the company had already participated in the Big 5, the main fair in the building sector in the Middle East, in 2007 and 2008, which also generated business in the Emirates. “At the Big 5, we added mosaics in glass with silkscreen, with layers of gold and crystal. They love it,” said the executive.
“The Arab market is promising,” stated Tarcila. “The building sector is heated, they are always renewing their homes. We are greatly interested in taking material there, and we have no problems in adapting our products to that market,” she pointed out. The executive adds that the company plans to return to participate in the fair in Dubai.
The United States is another market to which Inti has already exported its tiles. The company has 60 employees and production at the factory is 10,000 items a month.
According to Tarcila, the artistic production process makes the products exclusive, as it is not possible to reproduce the details of the items in a second load. The company has 1,000 items in its catalogue and prices range from 2.38 Brazilian reals (US$ 1.50) and 77.78 reals (US$ 49) per item.
