São Paulo – Ruell, a trading company based in the state of Santa Catarina, wants to find new suppliers of foodstuffs in the Arab world. The company buys dates, raisins, nutmegs and capers from three countries in the region, and wants to boost its imports.
“We have a company expansion plan, and we are investing in the commercial area, and as a result we expect our imports of spices and dried fruits, which are products we already buy from the Arab world, to increase greatly,” says Fabrízzio Costa, the Import coordinator with Ruell. The trading company works with five Arab suppliers from Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Syria.
Costa tells that the company started doing business with the Arabs in 2010 and that thus far, it has imported US$ 500,000 worth of goods. The deals are made according to customer demand. The spices and fruit imported by Ruell are sold to distributors who supply stores and supermarkets.
To service the new clients it is conquering, Ruell has set out to seek new partners in the region.
In addition to foods, Ruell works with beverages, electronic components, vehicles, textiles, machinery and equipment. “Presently, we acquire these products from several countries in all continents. In case the pricing and quality are good, products from the Arab world will be very well accepted,” says the executive.
Last week, Costa visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce headquarters, in São Paulo, to speak with representatives of an Egyptian company seeking buyers in Brazil.
“The talk with [Egyptian company] Al Sharif was very productive, we are only waiting on their reply concerning cotton exports, which greatly interests us,” said Costa.
Established in 2007 in the city of Florianópolis, Ruell has 20 employees in its operational, financial, fiscal and commercial divisions.
