São Paulo – The 5th edition of the Tunisia Investment Forum (TIF) will take place on June 11th and 12th in Tunis, the Arab country’s capital. The theme of this year’s event will be Invest in Tunisia, Join the Growing Success. The event is open to enterprises and investors from all over the world.
According to the event’s organizers, TIF 2015 will highlight the new features of Tunisia’s business environment and the measures taken to fuel domestic investment, and bring together industry leaders, decision-makers, authorities and foreign enterprises from emerging and developed countries.
In a conversation with this ANBA reporter, Sabri Bachtobji, the ambassador of Tunisia in em Brasília, noted that this will be the first forum following the drafting of a new code designed to encourage foreign investment, set to become effective in May.
“This is also the first TIF after last year’s elections, which gave us a new government, ending a cycle [in the country’s history],” the ambassador said, in reference to the fact that a new president and parliament were elected in the wake of the Arab Spring clashes, which broke out in 2011. The diplomat believes this “is a message to show that we have entered a spell of stability.”
Bachtobji said his country is interested in drawing investment into areas such as industry, tourism, pharmaceuticals and agriculture. The ambassador highlighted Brazil’s progress in agricultural research via the state-owned Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and recalled the cooperation agreement signed last March for the Brazilian organization to assist Tunisians with planting eucalyptuses, as previously reported by ANBA.
TIF will also feature meetings between companies, with prior scheduling, based on an online catalog of companies’ profiles and the types of partnership they seek. The meetings are open to companies from all over the world, and Bachtobji says they are a good opportunity for Brazilians to meet not only with Tunisian companies, but also from countries in Asia and Europe, which usually attend the event.
