São Paulo – The presidency of COP28 in the United Arab Emirates unveiled the official logo and branding of the 28th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP28). The event will occur at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12. Information was supplied by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
With the concept we are all inhabitants of “One World,” the spherical design in light and dark green includes many icons, from people and renewable energy technologies to wildlife and nature, encapsulated in a globe. The logo represents the wealth of humanity’s natural and technological resources and emphasizes the need for innovation in all sectors to drive inclusive and transformative sustainable development.
The design reminds global communities to take urgent climate action and join an inclusive path towards it. The graphics underline the message COP28 will be a COP for all, bridging the global north and south, including public and private sectors, scientists and civil society, women, and youth. All are represented in the logo, which also intends to carry the message this will be a COP of action to raise the ambitions and move from goals to obtaining results through mitigation, adaptation, financing, and loss and damage.
COP28 President-designate Sultan Al Jaber said at the launch event: “We live in one world, a world where we need to collaborate and cooperate like never before to make the transformational progress needed to reach the Paris Agreement. COP28 will be a COP for Action and a COP for all, bringing together the global north and south and leaving no one behind.” He added the conference will seek a global consensus “so that we can go further and faster and move from goals to getting it done.”
The new logo will be used throughout COP28 in the UAE, including on the website and Expo City Dubai venue.
