São Paulo – The UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers is calling for nominations. The prize is supported by the United Arab Emirates minister of Finances and crown prince of Dubai, Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Awarded every two years, the prize will be given for the sixth time to winners whose projects aim at improving worldwide the performance of teachers. The prize prioritizes developing countries and vulnerable, marginalized communities.
As released by UNESCO, it amounts to USD 300,000, which is equally divided between three winners. whose projects aim at improving worldwide the performance and effectiveness of teachers. Unlike another award promoted by the UAE, the Global Teacher Prize, instead of teachers, it will award organizations and communities.
Candidates may be institutions, international or national governmental organizations or NGOs, as well as local, national or regional communities working to enhance the performance and effectiveness of teachers.
The deadline for submitting applications for the 2019-2020 Prize is 31 October 2019 (midnight, Paris time). Applications are to be emailed to: teacherprize@unesco.org with the mention in the subject “UNESCO-Hamdan Prize application.” To apply, the participants should download the guide, the application form and the nomination form, as well as the statutes of UNESCO-Hamdan Prize.
