São Paulo – The UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) has launched this week the Refugiados Empreendedores webpage aimed at generating publicity to business of refugee people that keep working across Brazil, contributing to the development of their communities and local economy, despite the difficulties caused by the scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Every week, five different cases of refugee entrepreneurs in Brazil are listed. “Refugee people have been through rough patches in their lives. They had to leave their home countries because of wars and persecution, sought out international protection in Brazil and other countries and, with this pandemic, once again turned out to be more resilient and committed to adapt to new situations, keeping the economy alive,” UNHCR representative in Brazil, José Egas, was quoted as saying in a press release.
This first week, five food business in São Paulo are listed, including three Syrians, one Congolese and one Venezuelan. The Syrian ones are Muna Cozinha Árabe, Talal Culinária Síria (pictured above) and Limar Comida Árabe. Talal delivers through the Ifood app, as reported by ANBA earlier this week.
