São Paulo – Vitoria Stone Fair – Marmomac Latin America ornamental stone trade show, to run from February 11-14 in Espírito Santo, will feature buyers and exhibitors from Arab countries. Egyptian company Modern Marble (pictured above, the factory in Egypt) will have a stand in the show, and importers from Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Palestine and Jordan have registered as visitors.
Modern Marble manufactures marbles and granites but imports too. It trades both in Egypt and abroad. Flávia Milanez Milaneze, director of the Milanez & Milaneze, which organizes the show, says that Modern Marble exhibited in the 2018 show. In 2019, it participated as one importer of the Buyer Product promoted by the organization.
Flávia says that Egypt has many ornamental stone manufacturing companies and they participate in Vitoria Stone Fair – Marmomac Latin America as a gateway to break into Latin American market, as Mordern Marble does. Brazil manufactures and exports but also imports ornamental stones.
This year’s show is expected to have a number of exhibitors similar to the last edition but will feature companies from countries that didn’t attend in 2019, such as Egypt, Turkey, Australia and India, Flávia says. Two-hundred-forty exhibitors are expected by the organizers.
The number of visitors is expected to increase, though, from 15,000 in the last year’s show to 18,000. Buyers from 51 countries are expected, including the Arab ones listed above. Milanez & Milaneze director reports that, aside from the buyers that have registered so far, Moroccan and Lebanese buyers usually attend the show, too.
The Arab companies registered include an Algerian company that will be in the show as part of the Buyers Project, while the others will come on their own. Flávia says that the Arab market has many opportunities for ornamental stones, thanks to their grand projects, but the top stone buyers are the United States, China, Mexico, Canada, and United Kingdom.
Milanez & Milaneze director believes that the higher visitor number expected for this year is a result of the rebound that the Brazilian ornamental stone industry saw in 2019 and the international promotion the show carried out. Milanez & Milaneze is part of Veronafiere group.
Ornamental stone exports from Brazil were up by 2.6% and fetched USD 1 billion in 2019, a figure that had not been reached since 2013. Espírito Santo was the Brazilian state that most exported, accounting for 81.8% of the total. Figures were made public by the Brazilian Ornamental Stones Industry Association (Abirochas) and the State Ornamental Stone, Cal, and Limestone Industries Union (Sindirochas-ES).
Vitoria Stone Fair – Marmomac Latin America is held by Milanez & Milaneze, Sindirochas, and Marble and Granite Technology Center (Cetemag) and supported by several others.
