São Paulo – Volkswagen Brazil is negotiating the sale of Voyage vehicles to Iraq. According to an article on website G1, the value of the deal should exceed 250 million Brazilian reals (US$ 142 million).
The vehicles should be used for renewal of the taxi fleet in the country, to be financed by the government of Iraq. In July, during a visit to Brazil, the minister of Industry of Iraq, Fawzi Hariri, showed the interest of his government in purchasing Brazilian vehicles.
In the 1980s, Volkswagen exported the four-door Passat model to Iraq, and many of the vehicles still travel the roads of the country to this day.
