São Paulo – To discuss challenges and opportunities in logistics and transportation of goods between Brazil and the Arab countries and the role of the Suez Canal shipping route, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) will host a webinar next Tuesday, July 6, at 9:00 am (BRT), 2:00 pm (EET/EGY), with Brazilian and Arab sector experts. The event will be in English with Arab and Portuguese translation; it will last one hour and 40 minutes and is free. Registration is open. Pictured above, ships in the Suez Canal, Egypt.
“The event will address the hurdles and challenges we are currently facing in the logistics area. We will also discuss opportunities: how the Arab countries and Brazil can strengthen logistical ties, the creation of hubs and specific product processing zones for Brazil in the Arab countries and the possibility of creating a direct sea route between the Arab countries and Brazil,” said the secretary-general of the ABCC, Tamer Mansour.
The first session will be on investments in the logistics sector and will feature lectures by the vice president of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL), Alaa Hamieh; the assistant executive secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Infrastructure, Felipe Fernandes Queiroz, and the Port Counselor of the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal (SCZONE), Mohamed Abdelaziz.
The second topic will be the integration of global value chains with the Arab countries. It will have the participation of the dean of the College of International Transport & Logistics (CITLC) of the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Sara Hassan Kamal Elgazzar; the coordinator of the Center for Excellence in Supply Chain and Logistics at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo ( FGVcelog ), Orlando Cattini Junior; and the Business Intelligence manager at the ABCC, Marcus Vinícius; moderated by the secretary-general of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC), Qaisar Hijazin.
The third and final part of the webinar will be about technology and how it can improve efficiency in international logistics. Participating in the conversation will be the Supply Chain executive and sales director of Norsul Shipping Company, Fabian Lavaselli; the global director of protein and dairy products at A. P. Moller-Maersk, Jean Stoll; the director-general of Terminals and Logistics of the Açu Port, João Braz; the vice president of Operations of the Pecém Port, Cornelis Hulst; and the vice president of Egypt Global Logistics (Kadmar Group) and President of the Egyptian International Freight Forwarding Association (EIFFA), Medhat Elkady.
The seminar will be opened by ambassador Osmar Chohfi, president of the ABCC; Khaled Hanafy, secretary-general of the Union of Arab Chambers (UAC); and Adel Abou Rejeili, president of the Brazil-Lebanon Chamber of Commerce (CCBL) in Rio de Janeiro. Mansour will moderate the first and third sessions and end the activities.
