Abu Dhabi – The aluminum sector generated AED 2.8 billion (USD 762.2 million) in Abu Dhabi in the year’s first eight months, accounting for 2.6% of the emirate’s non-oil revenue. The data was published by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) based on the local statistics authority.
Excluding the oil sector, the emirate’s main source of revenues, the Abu Dhabi economy generated AED 107.4 billion (USD 29.2 billion) in the same period.
The growth reflects all the efforts promoted within the non-oil sector done by the country in the last ten years, according to industry analysts interviewed by the Emirati agency. These experts, still according to WAM, said that the United Arab Emirates became an important global supplier of aluminum, due to investments in plants and aluminum smelters throughout the country.
