São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Culture Institute (ICAB) will host the 4th edition of the Arab Diversity Food Market [Feira da Diversidade Culinária Árabe] this Saturday, June 11, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm BRT. The event will take place at the institution’s headquarters in Brasília, the federal capital of Brazil, at SCRN 706/707, Fearab building, Room 101, Asa Norte.
The market’s main attraction will be savory and sweet dishes from different Arab countries, served in booths with local restaurants and people selling their products. All foods will be offered at affordable prices so visitors can get to know the Arab cuisine’s different options and flavors, such as kofta, shawarma, falafel, kibbeh, and sfiha.
Dabke, a typical Arab dance, will be performed at the event, with the participation of visitors. The food market will also feature a belly dance performance.
Food is a solid cornerstone of a people’s culture. The passing of food traditions is a way for the immigrants and descendants of the Arab community to preserve their identity.
The ICAB is a non-profit institution founded in 1975 to promote Arab culture through language teaching and other artistic manifestations, including belly dancing. It is a reference to the dissemination of Arab culture in Brazil.
