São Paulo – A delegation of 50 Brazilian companies is going to participate in the Arab Health trade fair, for medical and hospital equipment and products, to be held from the 25th to the 28th in Dubai. According to the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Articles and Equipment (Abimo), the event is expected to generate US$ 25 million in exports over the next 12 months, a figure 20% higher than last year’s.
The resumption of growth of the world economy and the visibility that Brazilian companies will have at the fair lead the Abimo and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) to believe that the 20% growth target may be attained. The Brazilian stand will cover an area of 528 square metres and will be located near the stands of large international companies.
The fair in Dubai is already one of the events traditionally attended by the Abimo. Last year, 39 companies went to the fair and made 2,772 contacts with representatives of 77 different countries, more than half of which were in the Middle East and North Africa. In this edition, the Abimo estimates that sales will total US$ 1 million during the event’s four days.
In order to promote the Brazilian medical and dental inputs and equipment industry, the Abimo is going to intensify its promotional actions at the Arab Health, by means of advertisements in publications and on banners at the fair. Presently, the Arab market accounts for 30% of the industry’s export basket.
The main products shipped to the Arab market are neonatology equipment, dental equipment, heart monitors, surgical tools, hospital beds, anaesthesia equipment, inhalers, among others. The industry’s leading Arab buyers are Algeria, the Emirates, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
