Rio de Janeiro – Canadian officials met with the president of Eletrobrás, Luiz Pinguelli Rosa, for talks on the quest for sustainable energy sources for the XXI century and the problem of greenhouse gas emissions. Eletrobrás, the Brazilian state-run energy sector holding company, has a Zero Greenhouse Gas Emission program which will now be able to count on Canadian cooperation. Under the terms of a protocol of intentions, the two countries will jointly research emissions that cause the greenhouse effect.
The Eletrobrás program seeks to reduce atmospheric pollution in Brazil by electricity-generating power plants to an absolute minimum.
