Brasília – The Ministry of Labor granted 11,998 permanent or temporary work licenses to foreigners in Brazil from January to June 2017. The data is part of a report from the ministry’s General Coordination of Immigration released this Tuesday (28). There was a decline of 2,440 licenses, since in the same period of last year, the country granted 14,438 permits.
According to the ministry, the variation was already expected, since last year Brazil hosted the Summer Olympic Games, an event that resulted in a large flow of foreign professionals in the country, including athletes, their staff and international volunteers.
