Brasília –In the fourth week of April, with only three working days, Brazilian exports reached US$ 3.414 billion and imports reached US$ 3.778 billion. As a result, a trade deficit of US$ 364 million was recorded. The Brazilian trade surplus dropped to US$ 696 million thus far in April, and US$ 3.865 year-to-date.
The figures were disclosed late this morning (25th) by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Despite the decline, the daily export average rose by 11.1% compared with March, and 34.6% compared with April 2010.
Imports performed better from April 1st to 20th this year than in the same period of 2010. Average daily exports increased by 14.9% this month compared with March, and by 39.9% compared with April last year.
Due to the increase in imports, the Brazilian trade surplus averaged at US$ 49.7 million per day, a decline of 32.8% over last month and of 22.5% over April 2011.
