São Paulo – Brazilian footwear exports were up in August, as a result of the higher price of the United States currency, according to information released by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados). Export revenues were up 9.3%. A total of 9.3 million pairs were shipped abroad, amounting to US$ 92.66 million in revenues.
Year-to-date through August, 78.8 million pairs of shoes were exported from Brazil, yielding US$ 720.87 million. Export volumes were also up, by 12.1%, and export revenues were up 1.1% from the same period in 2012. The main export target was the United States.
