São Paulo – Starting next Tuesday (1), Clube Atlético Monte Líbano in São Paulo will host the “150 Years of Emperor Dom Pedro II’s Trip to Lebanon” exhibition, celebrating the Brazilian emperor’s 1876 journey to the Arab country. The exhibition is organized by the Brazil-Lebanon Cultural Association, which will hold an opening ceremony at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The exhibition will feature Dom Pedro II’s flag and sword, loaned by the Imperial House of Brazil, images from the ruler’s diary, accounts of the cities he visited, and a map of his journey, among other materials. According to the Brazil-Lebanon Cultural Association, the event will also see the launch of a commemorative stamp and postmark created by Brazil’s postal service, as well as a medal produced by the Brazilian Mint.
The exhibition is traveling and is also expected to be held at Conjunto Nacional in São Paulo. The event is supported by the Consulate General of Lebanon in São Paulo, and admission is free.
