São Paulo – The new consul general of Lebanon to São Paulo, Rodrigue El- Khoury, visited the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo, this Thursday (6). He was welcomed by the Chamber’s president William Adib Dib Junior, International Relations vice president and secretary general Mohamad Orra Mourad, director-treasurer Mohamad Abdouni Neto, and Institutional Relations director Fernanda Baltazar. They discussed opportunities to arrange meetings between Lebanese and Brazilian businesspeople.
Baltazar laid out Brazil-Lebanon trade figures made available by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Foreign Trade and Services and organized by the Arab Chamber. In 2025, exports were up 3.75% from 2024 to USD 461.7 million. Imports amounted to USD 32 million, up 217.4%. The top 3 export products from Brazil were beef, livestock, and coffee. Fertilizers led exports from Lebanon.
Mourad told the consul general that bilateral trade must be increased both ways, but especially sales from Lebanon to Brazil, which are not yet significant, and all too susceptible to fluctuations in trade. The consul, who took up his post in February, said meetings between businesspeople from both countries could be arranged to drive business.
Lebanese companies have been invited to join Apas, an annual retail show held in São Paulo. The Arab Chamber brings food companies from Arab countries to the show. Lebanon is an olive oil producing country, and Lebanese companies may be present in the upcoming edition of Apas, the Arab Chamber executives implied. “And other food companies as well, because there is great diversity to Lebanese production,” said Mourad.
