São Paulo – A fair called “Verde- Amarela” should present articles made by Brazilians who live in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, on the 17th and 18th of May. The fair should take place at a space in Dubai Marina and will include 30 exhibitors, who will present the products they make, like handicraft, clothes, dolls, garments, as well as services like photography and massage. The event is organized by Jeitinho do Brasil, a not-for-profit site that will provide news of interest to Brazilians living in United Arab Emirates.
According to Juliana Sanches Steiner, a Brazilian lawyer who lives in Dubai and owns site Jeitinho do Brasil, the objective of the fair is to promote products and services of the Brazilian community, as well as promoting the group and bringing it together. This is the second year in which the fair is taking place. Last year, the first edition received 1,000 Brazilians, as well as 200 people from other nationalities. Admittance is free. At the opportunity, the embassy of Brazil in Abu Dhabi will offer some services, like the delivery of voter’s cards.
Steiner created Jeitinho do Brasil one year ago. Before, she had a blog by the same name. According to the lawyer, despite being not-for-profit, she set up a company to progress with the idea. The site discloses news about employment for Brazilians in United Arab Emirates, services offered by them, as well as other news that may interest the foreigners living in the region. The site has some 4,000 people registered.
The lawyer is originally from Porto Alegre and moved to Dubai three years ago accompanying her husband, who went to work in the city. Missing her family and friends, Steiner soon started getting in contact with Brazilians to reduce the distance from her homeland a little. That was how she started providing information for those interested in moving to United Arab Emirates, forwarding job and rent opportunities, and she ended up establishing the blog and later the site. She invested around US$ 27,000 in the project.
Steiner’s idea is, by the end of the year, to start offering human resource and consultancy services to those interested in moving to United Arab Emirates. Up to now she did that at no cost to Brazilians. The criminal lawyer, however, plans to offer the service professionally, not just to Brazilians, but also to other foreigners.
