São Paulo – Brazilian poultry exports (including all products, fresh and processed) totaled 2.629 million tonnes in the first half of 2023, surpassing international sales in the first six months of 2022 by 8.5% as reported this Friday (7) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
Accumulated revenue over the first half reached USD 5.168 billion, overreaching by 9.3% the amount from January to June 2022.
Solely last June, Brazil’s poultry exports totaled 446,200 tonnes, 3.2% up from the same month in 2022. Export revenue last month was USD 887.5 million, 6.7% down from June 2022.
Concerning countries, China remained the leading destination, with 390,700 tonnes imported from January to June 2023 (33% up from the first half of 2022). Next came Japan, with 219,800 tonnes (+8.5%); the United Arab Emirates, 200,100 tonnes (-18.3%); South Africa, 189,700 tonnes (+ 16.5%); and Saudi Arabia, 176,800 tonnes (+8.4%).
Regarding the most prominent exporting states, Paraná remained in the lead, with 1.090 million tonnes in the first six months of this year (up 11.1% from the first half of 2022); followed by Santa Catarina, with 545,500 tonnes (+ 7.44%); Rio Grande do Sul, 372,700 tonnes (-1.9%); São Paulo, 151,400 tonnes (+17%); and Goiás, 120,400 tonnes’ (30 .8%).
“Throughout this year, we recorded increased purchases from virtually all Brazil’s export destinations, particularly in Asia. The positive average monthly exports balance came close to 440,000 tonnes, a critical sign of market confidence in the quality of the product, biosafety of production, and transparency and effectiveness of the work conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and other national entities on monitoring Avian Influenza,” emphasized the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
