São Paulo – Brazilian publishing house Tabla will host an in-person event in São Paulo to launch the Gaza, Terra da Poesia [Gaza, Land of Poetry] project. The collection brings together 17 poems by young poets from Gaza. It will be presented to the public this Sunday (3), at 5:00 pm BRT, at the Palestinian restaurant Al Janiah, located in the Bela Vista neighborhood in the São Paulo city center region.
The launch will feature the presence of Tabla editor Laura di Pietro and award-winning Brazilian translators Michel Sleiman and Safa Jubran, editors of the book.
Organized by Muhammad Taysir, young Brazilian translators of Arabic, such as Felipe Benjamin Francisco, Alexandre Facuri Chareti, Maria Carolina Gonçalves, and Beatriz Negreiros Gemigniani, have also contributed to the book.
In addition to the launch, there will be a reading circle of the poems with the translators and guests. Al Janiah is located at Rua Rui Barbosa, 269. Admission is free.
