São Paulo – Spanish company MasterFlights will operate a direct charter flight between São Paulo, Brazil, and Cairo, Egypt, with planes of Egyptian airline EgyptAir starting September, website Mercado & Eventos reported based on information from MasterFlights. In Brazil the flight will take off from the Guarulhos Airport.
An agreement was signed on Thursday (16) in Cairo by leaders of EgyptAir and MasterFlights. The first flight will take off on September 4, and the frequency will be weekly, every Monday, for the following 12 months. Masterflights told Mercado & Eventos the operation has been approved by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
According to MasterFlights, the charter flight will have domestic connections inside Egypt and to Tel Aviv, Israel, Amman, Jordan, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Istanbul, Turkey. Depending on how the flight will turn out, the frequency could be increased, and Buenos Aires could be added to the route.
The possibility of a Cairo-São Paulo flight has been discussed for some time between Brazilian and Egyptian authorities. It was also a topic of the conversation between Brazil’s president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi , after Lula won the election in Brazil.
