Brasília – Brazilian food supply agency Conab released, on Thursday (13), the sixth crop survey for Brazil’s 2024/25 grain season, updating the national production to 328.3 million tonnes. The current estimate represents a 10.3% increase compared to the volume harvested in the previous cycle (2023/24), up by 30.6 million tonnes.
Sharing the numbers, Conab President Edegar Pretto said it will be a historic harvest. If the projections are confirmed, it will be a new record for grain production in Brazil. According to Conab, the result reflects the increase in the planted area, estimated at 81.6 million hectares, and the recovery in the average productivity of the crops.
Soy, corn, beans, and rice
In the 2024/25 harvest, soybean production is expected to reach 167.4 million tonnes, with a 13.3% increase compared to the previous period. These numbers solidify Brazil’s leadership position in global soybean production. The corn production estimated by Conab for the 2024/2025 harvest is 122.76 million tonnes, a 6.1% growth compared to the last harvest.
For rice, Conab technicians observed a 6.5% increase in the planted area, reaching 1.7 million hectares [4.2 million acres], the largest in the last seven years. The harvest is estimated at 12.1 million tonnes. Bean production is expected to see a slight increase of 1.5%, with a total estimate of 3.29 million tonnes. There are also projections for higher yields in cotton and wheat harvests, among other products.
