The fair is going to take place between May 22 and 24 in the United Arab Emirates and its objective is presentation of services and products for hotels. The Brazilian stand will have from kitchen utensils to furniture for swimming pools and shampoo kits. A total of 150 new hotels are being planned in Dubai for construction within the next five years.
During the Arabian Travel Market fair, in Dubai, a travel agency from Abu Dhabi got in contact with hotel Ariaú Amazon Towers, from Brazil, to schedule the trip of 140 tourists to the Amazon (in northern Brazil) and Rio de Janeiro (in the southeast of the country). The hotel, which has already received the king of Morocco, may receive the group. The tourism sector fair, in which Brazil has a stand, began on Tuesday and ends today.
According to a study published this week, there was a 14% increase in the tourist flow when compared to 2003. Last year, foreigners spent US$ 3.22 billion in the country. Together the 50 main companies in the sector had revenues of approximately US$ 2.7 billion.
The forecast was made yesterday by the minister of Tourism, Walfrido Mares Guia, based on the 28.3% increase in on international arrivals in the country in January. Brazil will have a 70-square-metre space, where, from tomorrow to March 15, exhibitions will include photographs and videos of tourist points. The objective is to attract tourists from the region to Brazil.
The city, which celebrates today its anniversary, received in 2004 about 7.5 million visitors, of which 1.5 million were foreigners. The São Paulo Convention & Visitor Bureau estimates that the total figure will reach 15 million in 2010. The city is the richest in Brazil, the 4th largest in the world and the main business centre in Latin America.
A report prepared by the Emirati research and consulting company Market Vision, points Saudi Arabia as the major market in the Middle East for international tourism. The number of journeys abroad made by the population increased by 54% between 2001 and 2002. The greater part of Saudi tourists – 74% – stays at 4 and 5-star hotels when in other countries.
