For three years the Arab Syrian Cultural Centre, in São Paulo, has offered courses of the oriental language for free. In the beginning there were 40 pupils, one room and one teacher. Currently there are 450 pupils, four classrooms and three teachers. The majority of the pupils are not Arab descendants.

Taking a machine to cut concrete and iron, produced by his company, Bristol, over the last 20 years he has travelled to various countries affected by earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis.
