Rio de Janeiro – Children’s Day should generate BRL 8.8 billion (USD 2.81 billion) to Brazilian retail, reveals a survey conducted by the Federation of Commerce of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Fecomércio-RJ) and Ipsos Institute, which interviewed 1,200 Brazilian consumers between August 1st and 14.
According to Fecomércio-RJ’s economy manager, Christian Travassos, the average amount to be spent on gifts for the celebration date will go up from BRL 118.87 (USD 37.98) in 2016 to BRL 138.95 (USD 44.39) this year. Sixty-one percent of consumers answered that toys will be the top option, followed by clothing (20%), footwear (5%) and bicycles (3%).
