Rio de Janeiro – The inflation rate as measured by the Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) dropped in five of seven capitals surveyed by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) between the first and second weeks of March. The sharpest decline was in Salvador: 0.26 percentage point, going from 0.63% in the first week to 0.37% in the second. In Brasília, São Paulo, Recife and Porto Alegre the inflation index also declined. Two cities registered an increase: Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte.
