São Paulo – The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) cleared 69.4 billion reals (US$ 42.1 billion) from January to July this year, a 5% decline over the same period of 2010. In July, 13.6 billion reals (US$ 8.2 billion) were disbursed, representing an increase of 1.6% over the same month of last year.
According to information supplied by the bank, disbursements should reach 146 billion reals (US$ 88.6 billion) this year, the same level as in 2010. In the last twelve months, the BNDES cleared 140.2 billion reals (US$ 85.1 billion).
The infrastructure sector accounted for 28.8 billion reals (US$ 17.4 billion), or 42% of the total cleared from January to July, the bank informs. The industrial sector received 22 billion reals (US$ 13.3 billion), or 32% of the total disbursed, agriculture received 5.7 billion reals (US$ 3.4 billion), and the trade and services sector got 12.7 billion reals (US$ 7.7 billion).
