Rio de Janeiro – The combined value of infrastructure projects financed by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES, in the Portuguese acronym) increased by 26% in 2017 from 2016 to BRL 19.45 billion (USD 5.97 billion), while total infrastructure disbursements went up 13% to BRL 19.83 billion (USD 6.09 billion).
The numbers were made public this Thursday (4) by BNDES’ Infrastructure director Marilene Ramos. “This is relevant growth. Amid an economic crisis scenario, we managed to approve new projects, which means we expect to keep disbursements high over the next few years, and this year should also see disbursements increase,” she said.
