Rio de Janeiro – The daylight saving time (DST) ends at midnight from Saturday to Sunday (16th) in Brazil. Clocks will be set back one hour in South, Southeast and Midwest states, and Brazil will have saved up R$ 405 million (US$ 167 million) during the 120 days in which the DST was in effect.
The DST became effective as of October 20th last year, and enabled a 4% decline in power demand during peak hours. The information was supplied by the National Electrical System Operator (ONS, in the Portuguese acronym).
