São Paulo – The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), a free zone based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has kicked off on Thursday (7) a mission to Brazil that will include the states of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and São Paulo. The DMCC plans on showcasing the business opportunities in its country and prospecting firms that are mature enough to get established in the free zone.
The mission was preceded by a trip of DMCC president & CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem to Brazil last year and several visits of Brazilian businesspeople to the free zone over the last months, while the Expo 2020 Dubai was running. During his visit to Brazil in 2021, Sulayem signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), which is organizing the current mission to Brazil.
The DMCC is a hub for the global trade, providing the necessary brick-and-mortar, market and financial infrastructure for companies from different countries. Founded by the government of Dubai, it brings together businesses from different industries, from precious metals to foodstuffs, and holds a Coffee Centre and a Tea Centre. As of 2021, DMCC held over 18,000 companies from 170 countries.
The schedule of the mission to Brazil, led by Sulayem, started in Espírito Santo. From the 9th on, it includes activities in Minas Gerais. From the 12th on, there’ll be appointments in São Paulo, where the mission comes to an end on April 15. Each state will hold seminars, meetings with authorities, B2B meetings with companies, visits to plants, farms and other production projects.
The seminar in Vitória took place on Friday (8) at the Espirito Santo State Industry Federation (FINDES) at 9:30 am, followed by a networking session with companies. The seminar in Belo Horizonte will take place at the Minas Gerais State Industry Federation (FIEMG) on Monday (11) at 9:30 am followed by a networking session. In São Paulo, the seminar is schedule for Tuesday (12) in the ABCC at 9:30 am followed by a networking session.
The mission is held in partnership with FINDEZ, FIEMG, the government of Espírito Santo, Cdial Halal certifier and São Paulo’s Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Competitiveness (Investe SP).
