Brasília – Economic activity increased 1.12% in Q1 of this year in comparison to the last quarter of 2016, as per the seasonally-adjusted Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) made public this Monday (15) in Brasília. In comparison to Q1 2016, there was a 0.29% increase, according to non-adjusted data since the comparison is being made between the same periods.
In March, the seasonally-adjusted numbers displayed a decline of 0.44% over February. This was the first monthly decline this year. In a comparison between March of this year and the same period of 2016, there was an increase of 1.05%.
Year-over-year ending in March, the indicator has declined 2.78%. The IBC-Br is a mechanism used to assess the improvement of the Brazilian economic activity, but it’s not the oficcial index of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
