Rio de Janeiro – Chicken egg production was up 6% in Brazil year-on-year in Q1, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported this Thursday (13).
At 912.6 million-dozens, egg output was the highest for a Q1 since record-keeping began in 1984. The final figure exceeded the May 14 estimate, which pointed to 908.43 million-dozens produced.
Nevertheless, output was down 3.1% in Q1 2019 from Q4 2018.
The United Arab Emirates are the premier export market for Brazilian eggs, with Q1 sales coming out to USD 4.7 million, up 0.3% from a year ago, as per Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce data.
