São Paulo – Emirates Airline has open positions for flight attendants, and will hold a selection process next Saturday (31st) in São Paulo. The company has not disclosed how many people it intends to recruit this time in Brazil, but informed that due to its expansion policy, it should close the year with 3,800 new crew members around the world.
In a press release, Emirates announced that it is seeking “dedicated, friendly, helpful, open-minded” personnel. Applicants are required to be at least 21 years old, high school-level, and fluent in English. Interested parties must register on the company’s website, and bring a CV in English and a photograph to the process.
The Open Day, as the process is called, is carried out worldwide. On Saturday, the same process will be carried out in Malta, Athens, in Greece, Cologne, in Germany, Istanbul, in Turkey, and Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia. São Paulo has hosted another edition of the event this year, as well as Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro.
On the date of the process, Emirates employees will tell applicants about the company’s day-to-day and what life is like in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where Emirates is based.
The company has 16,000 crew members from over 120 countries. Of those, 449 are attendants, and 90 of the company’s pilots are Brazilian. The airline looks to assign attendants from different nationalities to its flights, so that at least ten languages are spoken by the crew on each flight. Usually, these languages include the flight’s destination and origin.
In June this year, Emirates was voted the world’s best airline by the Skytrax ranking. The services assessed include the number of languages spoken by the crew, efficiency, “amiability” of the attendants, and problem-solving skills.
Emirates currently flies to 134 destinations in 76 countries. The airline has operated in Brazil since 2007, when it began operating a flight between Dubai and São Paulo. In January last year, the airline expanded its operations in Brazil by including a stop in Rio de Janeiro in the route between Dubai and Buenos Aires.
The company’s fleet comprises 201 aircraft, with another 193 ordered. The São Paulo-Dubai is route is flown by Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, and the Buenos Aires-Dubai route, with stops in Rio, is flown by Boeing 777-200LR jets. The airline carried approximately 39 million passengers in 2012.
