São Paulo – Registration is open for Brazilian halal certifiers interested in joining the list of certifiers accredited in the Halal Brazil project. The registration will serve as an expression of interest to provide the service of granting the first halal certification to food and beverage companies backed by the project. The information is contained in the public notice released on the topic.
The Halal Brazil project is a partnership between the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) to foster the exports of halal food and beverage, which are fit for Muslim consumption.
The project aims to diversify the range of Brazilian exports in the sector, adding new firms and higher value-added goods to the niche. The project will be carried out on two fronts, namely company training and trade promotion.
The project will help 50 Brazilian food and beverage companies get their first halal certification. The companies will express their interest in obtaining the benefit via the public notice, and they’ll have to price take three different certifiers accredited by the Halal Brazil project.
The accreditation of the certifiers in the project serves to ensure the regular competition between operating companies in Brazil’s market of halal certifiers. Registration will remain open until the end of the Halal Brazil project in 2025.
The registration of certifiers demands a series of requirements like submitting documentation, having their certification accredited in the project’s target countries, being legally established in Brazil, and others. If approved in the whole process, the certifier will be able to participate in the Halal Brazil project.
