São Paulo – The Halal do Brasil project has launched the course “Exploring the Halal Market—Strategies for Exporters,” offering training to companies and professionals interested in doing business with Muslim-majority countries. The course is free and divided into chapters that address the various characteristics of this market. The Halal do Brasil Project is a partnership between the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) to promote Brazilian-made halal products abroad.
According to a statement released by the ABCC, the training is aimed at food and beverage exporters—who are the focus of the Halal do Brasil Project—and explores topics such as halal production concepts, the potential of the halal market, and marketing strategies for this consumer segment. Halal products are those that may be consumed by Muslims and are therefore free from alcohol and traces of pork, for example.
According to data from the State of the Islamic Economy Report 2024, the halal food market moves USD 1.88 trillion annually. According to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which comprises 57 countries, the global Muslim population is estimated at 1.9 billion people. Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of halal meats and one of the leading exporters of food and beverages. Last year, it exported USD 44.2 billion to Islamic countries, both Arab and non-Arab.
In the statement released by the ABCC, its Director of Institutional Relations, Fernanda Baltazar, says that the Halal do Brasil Project aims to increase the share of value-added food products in exports to Muslim countries. Among its activities, the project promotes products abroad through participation in trade fairs, organizes buyer projects in Brazil, roadshows across the country, business matchmaking rounds, technical visits, and incentives for participating companies to become certified to export halal products.
