São Paulo – The manufacturing industry in São Paulo created 7,731 jobs in October, a 0.51% increase in the employment level compared with September. Data from the study carried out by the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) reveal that the figures for October represent the largest increase in the level of employment in the sector since March, 2003, when a 0.56% increase was registered.
With the hirings registered in September (0.29%) and October, the index of industrial employment reversed the decline for the year (-0.14% through September), registering an increase of 0.37% through October. Nevertheless, when the most recent 12-month period is considered, the employment level remains negative (-0.17%), corresponding to a loss of 2.756 jobs.
