São Paulo – Moroccan airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) launches its fifth weekly nonstop flight between Casablanca, Morocco, and São Paulo, Brazil, this week. The first departure from Morocco on the new service is scheduled for Wednesday (28) at 3:30 p.m. The first flight from Brazil on the additional frequency will depart on Thursday (29) at 12:25 a.m. The launch is part of the airline’s expansion on the route since it resumed operations in December 2024 after a pandemic-related suspension.
With the new service, flights from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport will depart on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights to Brazil from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca will depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
In a statement, the airline said former Brazilian footballer Cafu, a two-time FIFA World Cup winner with Brazil’s national team, will travel with his wife, journalist Mariah Morais, on the inaugural flight of the fifth weekly service from São Paulo to Casablanca on Thursday. The choice is no coincidence, as Morocco will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
“Welcoming a football legend at this new stage brings us special joy. Cafu knows the excitement of a World Cup like few others and will be able to share his perspective in a country preparing to host the tournament. His visit also strengthens cultural ties between Brazilians and Moroccans and reflects the warm welcome we extend to travelers from Brazil. It will be a journey aboard RAM, during which the airline will showcase the very best of modern, sophisticated Moroccan hospitality,” said Othman Baba, Royal Air Maroc’s regional director for South America, in a statement.
Baba also highlighted the new flight as a way to open Morocco’s doors wider and make it easier for travelers to discover the country or connect to the world via Casablanca. In addition to carrying passengers from Brazil visiting Morocco, the service is also used by travelers connecting to cities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The airline serves more than 100 destinations.
Royal Air Maroc also said the additional frequency is being introduced ahead of the European winter season, a strategic period for Brazilian travel agents and tour operators.
In Morocco, Cafu and his wife will visit Casablanca, the country’s largest city; Rabat, the capital; and Marrakech, known as the Red City. Their itinerary will include the Atlantic coast and inland areas, with visits to palaces, mosques, gardens and medinas, as well as opportunities to explore local architecture, cuisine and everyday life. According to Royal Air Maroc, the trip will be documented in a special three-part miniseries featuring interviews along the way.
