Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production climbed 5.3% year-on-year in October, going up for the sixth straight month. The growth rate was the strongest since 9.8% in April 2013. Automobile, trailers and car bodies drove the pickup in output.
The information is from the monthly industry output survey Pesquisa Industrial Mensal – Produção Física Brasil released this Tuesday (5) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In October from September, production was up 0.2%, in the second back-to-back increase as per seasonally adjusted figures.
Year-to-date through October, industry output was up 1.9% from a year ago. Output was 1.5% in the 12 months through October.
