São Paulo – Kuwait has taken measures to ease the international transit of the country’s citizens who took the COVID-19 vaccine. Besides allowing them to travel abroad, Kuwait has eased quarantine restrictions for those who land in the country, state news agency KUNA reported.
Travelers who took both doses of the COVID-11 vaccine or present a negative test will be released from the quarantine when landing in Kuwait. The immunization must have occurred two weeks before their arrival in Kuwait, and the recovery cannot exceed 90 days. The PCR test must have been taken at least 72 hours prior to their flight time, and another test must be carried out three days after the arrival. If proven negative, the citizen can leave quarantine.
Nationals and their companions and domestic helpers are not allowed to travel unless they have taken a COVID-19 vaccine, a measure that came into force last weekend. Those who could not take the vaccine due to health conditions, pregnancy, age categories not subjected to vaccines, students and diplomats, are exempted.
Non-citizens of Kuwait are still banned from visiting the country until further notice, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said. The quarantine when landing in Kuwait for those who have not been cleared because of the vaccine is one week at a hotel recommended by the government and paid by the traveler and another week at home.
Over two million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Kuwait, according to official figures. The country has a little more than four million residents. Until last Friday, Kuwait’s coronavirus caseload had reached 297,206 with 1,719 deaths.
