São Paulo – Once the COVID-19 vaccine arrives in Kuwait by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2021, it will be provided for free to all Kuwaiti citizens, Gulfnews website reported based on information from local newspaper Al Anba.
The vaccine will first be administered to the elderly, people with chronic illnesses and frontline workers, in two doses. A committee, spearheaded by the minister of Health, Basel Al Sabah, is beginning to organize and prepare an online platform where all citizens can go online and book an appointment to take the vaccine.
Kuwait has already placed an order for one million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, the Ministry of Health stated two weeks ago. Imports, however, will depend on Pfizer obtaining official approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Kuwait has a population of around 4 million people.
Based on a survey done by local newspaper, Al Qabas, where around 10,000 people participated, 39% of them said they would take the vaccine, 15% said they are not sure, and 46% said they would refuse to take the COVID-19 shot.
