São Paulo – Brazil’s medical supplies and equipment industry lobby group ABIMO will take six device firms on a trade mission to Egypt in search of business opportunities for the industry. The team of Brazilian Health Devices (BHD), a sectoral project by ABIMO in partnership with the Brazilian Trade & Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), will be from October 16 to 19 in Cairo, Egypt. The action is a development of the prospective mission led last June and will include B2Bs, commercial visits and meetings with entities and authorities of the country. Representatives of the healthcare, dental and lab segments will participate to promote Brazilian manufacturers.
The medical device companies joining the mission will be Fanem (medical and lab devices), Magnamed (lung ventilation), Opuspac (automation and hospital logistics), Biotecno (medical refrigeration), DFL (dental products), and Biodinâmica (dental products).
“Brazil has a good trade relationship with Egypt, stimulated by the [Mercosur-Egypt] free trade agreement. We hope this mission will promote the Brazilian industry and increase healthcare exports to the country,” ABIMO Market Access analyst José Fernando Dantas was quoted as saying in a statement.
Representing the firm Biotecno, a medical and scientific refrigeration brand that manufactures refrigerators for vaccine, medicine and blood storage, Lídia Lagemann is preparing and will go to Egypt to better understand the local ecosystem, evaluate opportunities and contact representatives and distributors in the region. “Our biggest challenges include the competition of European, US and Chinese manufacturers, as well as the fact that some Arab countries are authorized to import reworked materials,” she was quoted as saying in the statement.
The company already has some contracts signed with countries such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and India, and it plans on starting talks with Egypt, a country with over 102 million residents and many opportunities. The company believes the Arab market is interested in Brazilian products. “Our experience enables us to contribute with various solutions that will help the country, particularly regarding vaccine storage and handling,” Lagemann said. The role of the lab industry in Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the good image of Brazilian products across the world.
The October’s trade mission is supported by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).
