São Paulo – The Brazilian minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Armando Monteiro, said this Tuesday (22) that the USD 35 billion trade surplus forecast for 2016 is still in place.
Speaking at a press conference, he also discussed the Ministry’s actions this year. Monteiro said he expects finished goods exports to go up next year, driven by the auto industry, “as a result of trade agreements and the reorganization of market shares which automakers themselves are carrying out.”
The minister stressed that he doesn’t see mineral commodity prices rebounding, but believes agricultural product prices could climb again in 2016.
He asserted that next year, the federal government will treat industrial policy with an emphasis on microeconomics and on corporate productivity enhancement.
