São Paulo – Brazilian motorcycle exports have soared in January 2014. A total of 8,307 were shipped abroad, up 46.1% from January 2013. The results have been released this Friday (7th) by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Autocycle, Scooter and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo). The increase, according to the association, is consistent with its forecasts.
Domestic motorcycle sales in Brazil were up 5.7% January-on-January. According to Abraciclo, 133,632 units were sold in January 2014, as against 126,423 in January last year.
Motorcycle production was up 14.2% January-on-January. A total of 145,302 motorcycles were manufactured in January 2014, as against 127,220 units in January 2013. Wholesale sales stood at 103,683 units, down 9.5% from January 2013.
“Our assessment is that commercial actions by manufacturers and dealerships have spurred further business, however, the effort is designed to offset any eventual decline in sales over the next few months as a consequence of the World Cup,” said Abraciclo chairman Marcos Fermanian.
