São Paulo – This Friday (16th), the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Autocycle, Scooter and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo) informed that 64,688 motorcycles were sold in Brazil in the first half of August. The amount is up 0.8% from the first 15 days in July, and down 2.8% from the first fortnight of August 2012.
“The sales volume in the first fortnight shows that the market has remained stable from July to August, said Marcos Fermanian, the chairman of Abraciclo, according to a press release from the organization. “We are expecting business to improve in the second half, due to sales incentives such as the launch of new models, marketing campaigns, and Salão Duas Rodas, which will take place in October in São Paulo,” he said.
The Brazilian motorcycle fleet comprises over 20 million units, according to the association. Output revolves around 1.7 million units per year, and Brazil ranks fifth in the list of leading manufacturing countries.
