São Paulo – Shoe manufacturing company Myrabel, based in the municipality of Sapiranga, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, wants to resume its sales to the Arab market and increase their volume. According to the company’s international sales manager, Alison Becker, the company will participate, starting on September 19th, in Micam, a trade show for the industry held in Milan, Italy, and intends to meet Arab importers there. "Myrabel has supplied countless orders to Arab clients, but after last year’s crisis, the demand for our added value, high quality products in that market has decreased," Becker told ANBA by email.
The participation in the Micam, however, should be an opportunity for turning that around, because the fair is usually attended by Arab businessmen. Myrabel produces its own shoe brand, called Burana, and also makes shoes for third parties, including renowned international brands such as Geox, BCBG and Aldo. In the Arab world, Myrabel has supplied major brands such as those mentioned above, among others, usually with differentiated models in keeping with the fashion trends. Starting with the fair in Milan, however, the company also intends to export Burana shoes to the Arabs.
Myrabel has four industrial units, three geared toward shoe manufacturing and one for assembling soles, heels and shoe lifts. All of the plants are located in Sapiranga, and together they employ 1,100 collaborators. The company produces approximately 1 million pairs a year, according to Becker. "The output varies depending on the global market," he explains. Most of the output – 65% – goes to the foreign market. Myrabel exports to over 30 countries and its main markets are in Europe and the Americas, according to the manager.
Myrabel has existed for 48-and-a-half years, but it only created its own brand, Burana, five years ago. "Myrabel created its global Burana brand based on a concept of sophistication for women who appreciate fashion in high-heel shoes," explains Becker. According to him, the design and development research for Burana products, coupled with Myrabel’s quality standards, have enabled the company to conquer demanding markets. Burana shoes are sold at points of sale in virtually all of the Brazilian territory, says Becker.
Myrabel is a family company. It was established by five people, among them Donato Lemke, Alípio Lehnen, Abilio Sander and Abda Zoeheler, who remain as internal consultants to the board of directors. When Myrabel was born, it was called Venter Lehner e Cia Ltda, and made 500 pairs a month in a small wooden cottage. Now, in addition to producing a large volume of shoes, the company maintains a broad social responsibility program social, which includes paying for employees’ studies.
